The Hand icon will move the display when the mixer display is magnified.
The magnifying glass icon will enlarge the mixer display to make blended colors more easily visible, double click the icon to return to full view The brush updates automatically as you mix. When using bristle brushes click on the two brush icons and after adding paint to the palette you can paint immediately in the picture without going to the eyedropper icon. The Eyedropper icon in a circle is used for brushes like Artists Oils which can pick up more than one color at a time. Whenever you're turning a photo into a painting, keep in mind that the better the quality of the photo, the better the end result will be.

When you are ready to paint, first click the eyedropper icon then click in the mixer to select the color you need and paint into your picture. First download the files (ZIP, 11 MB), then double-click cloning tutorial.brushcategory and install the brushes to Program Files\Corel\Painter12\Brushes\Painter Brushes. When you have added several colors click the palette knife icon and mix the colors together. The paint will mix together as it is layered on top of the previous brush strokes.
Then select another color and paint some more, the slider will change the size of the brush that adds the color. When the Mixer was first introduced in Painter it was a huge advance in recreating traditional techniques, it works like an artist's palette where paints can be mixed together to blend colors.
